McMath Woods P.A. is a firm of Trial Lawyers, providing innovative, aggressive, and ethical representation to plaintiffs in the civil justice system for over half a century. The attorneys provide representation in most types of personal injury and wrongful death cases, including automobile accidents, injury from defective products, workplace injuries, electrical injuries, and toxic poisoning from chemicals, just to name a few.
McMath Woods P.A. endeavors to reflect the values that guided the original firm, operating on the belief that the civil justice system, while a means for securing individual justice, is also an essential tool for regulating private behavior for the benefit of society at large. Every true plaintiff’s lawyer is a public interest lawyer committed to the pursuit of justice, both inside and outside the courtroom. For such a lawyer, every case is an opportunity to make a difference.
Firm Background
McMath Woods P.A. was founded in 1953 by Sidney S. McMath, Leland F. Leatherman, and Henry Woods. The three established the law firm after McMath completed two terms as Arkansas’ Governor, with Woods and Leatherman having served in McMath’s administration. The three dedicated their practice to representing those injured or wronged in labor and employment, personal injury, and consumer matters. McMath and Woods developed a national reputation in handling plaintiff’s personal injury cases. McMath was elected President of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and Woods was appointed as a United States district Court Judge and authored a legal treatise on comparative fault. What we do — Who we represent
Our firm primarily represents individuals and small business that have been injured or wronged. Most of our cases are done on a contingency fee basis, meaning we only get paid if our clients prevail. Most consultations are free and all matters discussed are confidential. We handle personal injury, environmental, employment, and pesticide damage claims in Arkansas. When appropriate, we refer prospective clients outside our practice areas without charge.
Who We Are
All of our attorneys have litigation experience in the areas in which they practice. We are proud that most of our work is referred by other attorneys, and we frequently work in association with referring counsel on significant claims. The firm and most of the individual attorneys are A/V rated by Martindale-Hubbell and have been otherwise noted within their areas of practice
Our Experience
There are few plaintiffs’ firms in Arkansas with broader experience in civil litigation. The firm has handled over five thousand personal injury claims, from car wrecks, medical injury, and defective products, to toxic exposures. Firm attorneys have pioneered several product and pharmaceutical defects. In our environmental law practice, we have represented whole communities impacted by air pollution from local industries and individuals who have had their lives affected by leaking storage tanks. We have handled pesticide crop damage claims from South Texas to Florida. There are few areas of civil litigation in which we do not have experience.
